Evaluating Social Good - Haiku

If it i'nt money
how does it count? What value
to give, when it's so great?
A reflection on the difficulty of trying to evaluate the value of making someone feel more empowered.  In fact it isn't so difficult to work this out, as people who aren't getting the support they need often use much more healthcare, get depressed, and can be quite costly to look after.  So the benefit of making a difference, of giving the care a person needs, is the amount that has been saved.  But the process of doing the calculation can be quite involved.

The Measures needed to manage the business

Cascading Targets down to the workers

Not so long ago, the Department of Health was asking “how can we save 40% in management costs in the NHS?”.

I know!  In fact it was a very simple answer.  If the NHS didn’t have to report so many things in so many different ways and in such detail to Department of Health, we’d need 40% less management time (actually, it is pretty close to 40% - very nearly 2 days per week of most line-of-business managers is spent on reporting).
